Ernie Drew Jarvis on the Legacy of His Grandfather, Dr. Charles Drew

In this Inputs to Action, Dr. Lisa shares a bit of nostalgia with a neighbor and family friend from her childhood. In those early years, Lisa acknowledges that she didn’t quite “get” the significance of Ernie Jarvis’ relationship to Dr. Charles Drew.

Ernie’s grandfather, Dr. Drew, was the doctor credited with training more African-American surgeons than anyone until the 1970’s, and he did so during a time when racial segregation was legal. Dr. Drew exemplified his famous quote, “A commitment to excellence shall overcome any artificial barriers created by man.”

Prepare to be inspired during this Black History Month feature in which Ernie Drew Jarvis proudly sheds more insight on the legacy of a man-his grandfather-that changed the world.
